It's also a great time to sightfish as flows are extremely low and clear. Rock Creek Bay out into the main lake down toward the Nelson Creek area has been producing nice-sized walleye. Fishing on Browns has slowed down. 2.62 on the average. Zimmer Tackle, Pablo. North Fork Anglers, Cody. Snappys Sport Senter, Kalispell. Lees Ferry Good. They are being found in shallow depths pitching or jigging. Spring Creek: Anglers are doing OK with most guys using wet flies. Mostly. Certainly. Currently checking. Sport Center, Lewistown. The water still has a lot of color to it. Cherry Creek is puking filthy mud right now, which means half-day floats or hiking up into the Beartrap Canyon are better ideas than full-day floats. Dont be afraid of smaller flashy streamers such as the Kreelex Minnow or a Sparkle Minnow this time of year either. The water is generally cold and consistent for killer summertime fishing. The PowerBait Ripple Shad seems to be the plastic jig the fish respond to. The Bitterroot is back in fishable shape and is continuing to drop. Boat and shore fishing is doing really well lately. Some yellow perch are caught trolling and from shore throughout the reservoir. Fortunately daytime temps will ooch into the forties which is at least a small sign of spring around here. Most of the hatches have thinned out, but there are some mayflies on any given day. If the water clears up, Lightning Bug, Jig PT, 2-Bit Hooker, Prince Nymph, Duracell, Spanish Bullet or Perdigon in #12-14 should be more productive. How do we do it? The best trico patterns have been Trico Sparkle Duns in sizes 18-20 and for the spinner fall Trico Spinners in the same sizes. The river south of Hardin (the Crow Reservation) is also closed to recreation by everyone but Crow tribal members.
